The Royal Palace at Stirling Castle was created by James V and was the childhood home of Mary, Queen of Scots. Historic Scotland is currently working on a £12 million project to return the Palace to its renaissance magnificence.
The Palace project is the single most ambitious programme undertaken by Historic Scotland and aims to conserve and present the majesty of the lodgings, giving visitors an insight into how the King's and Queen's chambers may have looked in the mid 16th century.Years of careful research and archaeological investigation have gone into the design of the furnishings and decor in the royal apartments.
When the Palace re-opens in 2011 after 3 years work on the site, the result will be a fantastic enhancement and a new dimension to the overall visitor experience at Stirling Castle.
